Glaucoma Clinical Trials

Glaucoma is a group of eye conditions that damage the optic nerve, a structure responsible for carrying visual information from the eye to the brain. While elevated eye pressure is a major risk factor, glaucoma can also occur in individuals whose eye pressure falls within a normal range.

Many forms of glaucoma develop slowly and may not cause noticeable symptoms in their early stages. Peripheral (side) vision is often affected first, making changes difficult to detect without routine eye examinations. Because glaucoma-related vision loss is generally irreversible, early detection and long-term management play an important role in preserving visual function.

Glaucoma clinical trials help researchers better understand how the disease develops, progresses, and affects the structures responsible for vision.

Research may evaluate optic nerve health, retinal nerve fiber changes, visual field performance, intraocular pressure measurements, and other clinical indicators associated with glaucoma.
